Body/Mind/Soul Connection

Dear God/Goddess, well, I see that my body and mind seems to have a strong hold over the Soul. Why is it that my body wants to sleep, eat sweets and not exercise, and mind likes to worry all the time, and watch stupid TV shows!!!

If I exercise, do chores, eat right, avoid sweets and alcohol and get up and write in the early mornings, I know it is so good for me, but it sure is pushing against my bodies desires. And thinking positive thoughts seems to be against what my minds wants to think about? Does the Soul like a challenge, is that why we jump into these bodies that often make it hard to get past these bodies and minds desires, and why are these desires so strong!!! They especially get stronger when I give in and give them what they want. And usually those are not what is good for me!

Dear Sweet Child, so many good questions, we welcome you pushing through wanting to go back to sleep, even right now it is calling you! This is a good example of overriding what the body wants. Your body would rather be sleeping, and often it gets what it wants. But before we go much further, we would like to make clear that these three parts are not as clearly separate as it seems to be discussed here. The body/mind spilt isn’t exactly a direct split. The Soul is also not a complete separate entity while in your body. Some times you can feel the difference, but they are all married, blended in a way that tends to blur the edges of the separate entities of the three we have been discussing. It is like a melding together that was created at birth or around there, when the Soul took on that body and mind. It also took on the history of the ancestors of that body, and it all became a blended unit. That is why rarely no one part is in complete control, except, like in the case when the body is filed with so much numbing substances to over-ride the other parts of you,.

The Soul is here for expression and growth, it takes on the body and mind to allow it to be able to do that. But it is not in the Soul’s nature to over-ride these other parts of you. It is a subtle influence, especially if the Soul itself hasn’t developed enough to know how to direct the other parts into a more spiritual life.

The spiritual life has to be truly chosen, with all the other options to choose from. Then the Soul gets the true joy of choosing that life. But in order to have a true choice, other options have to be available.

How can we recognize the Soul and give it full expression and growth?

Good question , to recognize it, it is kind of like recognizing your conscience, but it is not a parent in a scolding way, that is your mind. No, your Soul gives you love and compassion, joy and freedom. When you are feeling these things, you are in touch with your Soul. Compassion for you and others can give you insight to the plight of getting along and the blending of all your parts.

When you die, the body falls away first, you step out of it like stepping out of a space suite the astronauts wear. That part goes quickly, and not mourned for, because like the astronauts, they feel released from that tight constraint of the space suit, and they know that suit is not them. The mind that came with the body, can have lingering affects after death, especially if there was a clear identity with the mind that was established during that life time. But you will eventually drop that off and re-connect with who you truly are, the watcher of it all. Reach into yourself now, and feel yourself, who is there? When you hold your newborn child, or see a beautiful sunset, or that moment of falling in love, when your life is full of wonder and joy in the moment, that is when you are in touch with who you really are.
